PhD Researcher of Engaging Mobility
Mohsen Nazemi received his Master’s degree in Transportation Engineering from Tarbiat Modares University, Tehran, Iran, following a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. The focus of his Master’s thesis was on macroscopic dynamic traffic assignment modelling and calibration of transportation networks. He has published several journal and conference papers and served as a reviewer for IEEE (Intelligent Transportation Systems). Mohsen contributed to a number of projects at Tarahan Parseh Transportation Research Institute as an apprentice, before joining Aavand Consulting Engineers Company as a transportation engineer where he collaborated in several comprehensive transportation planning studies and traffic engineering projects. Research
Mohsen joined Engaging Mobility group as a PhD researcher in 2016 and his current research focuses on microscopic simulation of “shared spaces”. The concept of shared space has been recently launched which aims to shift the focus of streets back to pedestrians and improve their experience of the urban environment. In this context, the development of a shared space simulation tool is essential to represent pedestrians, bicyclists, and motor vehicles interactions to determine whether particular shared space schemes are suitable alternatives to traditional street layouts with regards to provide a comfortable and safe environment for all modes and maintain balanced traffic conditions.
