Co-Director of Collaborative Interactive Visualisation + Analysis Lab (CIVAL)  

Dr Stefan Müller Arisona is Professor of Computer Science at FHNW and Senior Research Fellow at ETH Zurich, Switzerland. His main interests are the application of computer graphics, digital media, and human-computer interaction principles to a variety of fields such as architectural and urban modelling, digital art and entertainment, or digital media authoring. Stefan graduated in electrical engineering at ETH Zurich, completed his PhD at the University of Zurich in 2004, and was a Swiss NSF fellow at the University of California, Santa Barbara from 2007 - 2008. Research

Stefan Müller Arisona is interested in studying and advancing expressive and narrative interaction techniques to increase the creative and explorative potential of software instruments. Typical examples are the work on live visuals performance and live video editing; the design and implementation of the Value Lab Asia; and ongoing work on creating “playful” applications for the collaborative, interactive study of future urban scenarios, such as the Addis2050 energy scenario tool.

Awards

  • 1996 – 1997: Erasmus scholarship. Carried out at Uppsala University, Uppsala Sweden
  • 2007–2008: Two-year postdoctoral research fellowship for advanced researchers, awarded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF). Carried out at University of California, Santa Barbara.
  • 2012: Finalist of Swiss Federal Office of Culture (BAK) Swiss Art Awards.

  10. Almost Lost with Heinrich Lüber. July 12 2006. Digital Art Weeks, Zurich, Switzerland Abstract projection mapping installation in collaboration with Swiss artist Heinrich Lüber and ETH Zurich.
  11. Rip My Disk. January 27 2006. Interactive Futures, Victoria, Canada Live visuals installation and performance enhanced with off-the-shelf mobile device interaction. In cooperation with ETH Zurich and Swisscom.
